What do I need to make my online reservation at standriba.pt?
Go to our website www.standriba.pt , choose the location for your rent, and choose the day and time for pick-up and the day and time for drop off. Choose the car you want, fill in the reservation form with your details and submit your reservation.
Is my reservation confirmed automatically?
When submitting your reservation, you will receive an automatic email with a summary of your reservation in “Standby” status and information on the selected payment method. After verifying your payment, your reservation becomes “Confirmed”.If you do not receive this email, please contact us via email booking@standriba.pt or check your spam folder.
Is any payment required at the time of booking?
To secure availability and lock in the lowest price for your selected car, we request a non-refundable 20% down payment. This down payment serves as a commitment and ensures that the vehicle is reserved exclusively for you, making it unavailable to other potential drivers. As we do not require a security deposit or credit card hold, the down payment is essential to guarantee the reservation and honor the agreed-upon terms. Down payment refunds are only available under extreme weather conditions and/or cancelled flights. Thank you for your understanding.
There is really no credit card hold or security fee?
There is no credit card hold or security fee as we work a little differently from the rest. We do not want to keep your credit card information, nor, do we feel like it is fair to charge extra for a security fee. To guarantee availability and lock the lowest price, we do require a 20% down payment at the moment of booking; you can pay the rest of your balance once you arrive on the island with cash, debit and/or credit card. Down payment refunds are only available under extreme weather conditions and/or cancelled flights.
How old do I need to be to rent a car in Madeira Island?
You only need to be 18 and have a valid driver’s license to rent a car in Madeira Island with Standriba Rent a Car, but people 21 or younger are subject to the obligation to leave a deposit.

What types of insurance do you offer, and do I need them?
We offer Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) on all rental vehicles
What's the fuel policy?
Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel that they had on the delivery date. The missing fuel will be charged to the customer plus a penalty.
Can I pick up my car rental at Funchal international airport?
Certainly. You can pick up and drop off your rental car at the airport at any time. We’ll contact you if necessary before your flight to arrange all the necessary steps for your delivery. At the time of arrival, one of our representatives will be waiting for you at the exit, holding a sign with our company logo. Please be mindful that airport deliveries have an additional €25 fee per way.
Can I return the car at a different location?
Yes you can, you just have to let us.
What is the cancellation policy?
The customer can cancel the reservation up to 48 hours before the pick-up time free of charge. If you cancel between 48h and 24h before the pick-up time, the first three days of the reservation will be charged. If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance, the entire reservation will be charged
How are tolls and traffic violations handled?
Any fines or costs that can occur from traffic violations are the clientes responsibility.
Can I add an additional driver?
Yes you can, at no additional cost.
What if the car breaks down or has an issue?
You need to contact someone from Standriba Rent a Car team immediately so we can assess the situation.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, we provide child seats and booster seats as an extra.
What happens if I want to return the car outsider office hours?
We operate 24 hours a day so you can pick up or drop off your car at any time free of charge.
Is there a refundable cleaning fee?
We value the hygiene and cleanliness of all our cars and we guarantee that your car is delivered in perfectly clean conditions. That’s why we apply a refundable car cleaning fee to all rentals, which is refunded if the vehicle is not excessively dirty inside and outside. Thank you for your understanding
Is smoking allowed in rental cars?

How do I extend my rental period?
You just have to contact someone from our team to check availability and then we take care of the extension process.
